First performed in 2013, Nineteen43, is a haunting and breathtaking reinterpretation of Foster's grandmothers stories of the holocaust. One of Foster's finest works, and a Richmond favorite, Nineteen43 transports the viewer through a journey of meaningful and historical significance. Set to an original score by Richmond musician and composer Robbie Kinter, this work is about survival and the power of family. Highlighting Foster's unique voice to create unusual and skillful partnering, Sleep of the Guilty is a restless and fiery sextet inspired by dreams that are affected by guilt, stess and anxiety. Tapping into Foster's quirky side, with a dose of dark humor, Animal, is a collection of 4 duets with movements inspired by the behaviors, anatomy and mating practices of a particular animal; with each section carrying the title of the particular animal. The Shaking Season, an electrifying, fast paced quintet for all women, symbolizes the act of releasing and shedding undesired burdens. The women of the Dance Project establish their ferocity and strength in their performance in this new quintet. Foster and her company have also collaborated with Richmond film maker Michelle Taft, to create a film version of Foster's work Breaking Silence, which premiered last season, and will have its first public viewing during their Richmond performances.
